at the beginning of january we had the chance to escape for the weekend. we didn’t go far from home, really, but it was far enough away to unplug, relax, enjoy just being together, and marvel at God’s creation. i just realized i never shared any images from that weekend, so i thought today was as good a day as any to share a few! i do not fancy myself a landscape photographer, but i did my best at capturing some of this beauty.
this past weekend i decided to challenge myself – the challenge was to keep my camera readily available and to capture our weekend. there was nothing special going on, no specific reason to take pictures, and that is why i wanted to do this. i love the real, raw, true moments that are so quickly forgotten. i want to grab those and hold on super tight because my memory fails me so often… and i don’t want to forget. so, i did just that. our weekend: complete with coffee, lots of playing, games, sword fights, running around with the dog, watching tv, helping daddy clean the car, reading, naps, errands, baths, and bedtime. it was nothing special, and yet, it was oh-so-special. i sure do love these people (and animals!).
christmas break has come and gone and i’m sitting here thinking about the time we got to spend together as a family. we had so much fun just hanging out, playing games, laughing together, running errands, eating yummy food, watching movies, building legos, sledding, and just being together. while i love routine, i also love the freedom to do whatever we want whenever we want. we had quite a few stay-in-your-jammies days and plenty of fun. one fabulously sunny day, we decided to go sledding. we have a pretty sweet hill just a couple of blocks from our house, so we bundled up and headed out. we all had a blast — including atticus (that pup loves the snow!). i mean, what’s more fun than sledding?!
